Since 2000, Geraldo Silva Filho has been a member of the Brazilian federal government career Especialistas em Políticas Públicas e Gestão Governamental. Throughout his career he has had positions at the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, at the Ministry of the Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic, at the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (INEP) and at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. At INEP his research drew upon students’ and teachers’ longitudinal data and focused on: (i) teacher labor market and on teacher career attractiveness; and (ii) on the determinants of the inequality of students’ educational outcomes. During his stay at the position of coordinator of the Economic Analysis Unit of the Secretariat of Productivity, Employment and Competitiveness of the Ministry of Economy (from sept/2019 to mar/2020), the unit carried out studies of impact evaluation of some policies run by the Secretariat. Since April 2020 he is the Head of Policy and Comparative Studies Division of the General Coordination for Social Security Studies of the Secretariat for Social Security, where he is responsible for the equity assessment of the Brazilian Pension System.
