My paintings explore the narrative and symbolic possibilities of realism. Working in oil, I create carefully arrange still lifes and figurative compositions that combine observation with metaphor, drawing inspiration from literature, history, music, and the quiet emotional resonance of everyday objects.
Many of the still life works are constructed in a shadow box under controlled lighting, allowing me to study the shifts in color, reflected light, texture and atmosphere. I am interested in the tension between technical precision and the suggestion of how familiar objects, when isolated and arranged deliberately, can begin to imply larger stories about memory, culture, mortality and curiosity. Although rooted in observation, the paintings are not intended as simple records of objects. They are arrangements inviting the viewer to construct their own interpretations and emotional connection.
