My teaching philosophy follows the words of W.B. Yeats: “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” Excellence in teaching is an essential professional requirement of a university professor. Over the past decade, I am interested in teaching introductory core discipline courses as well as advanced courses relevant to research methods in human-environment interactions, land use/cover change, hydrology, and climate change. Additionally, I am also into teaching courses on geospatial data processing techniques (e.g., Python and R), as these skills are essentially important for students to develop spatial thinking and strengthen problem-solving ability when investigating the relationship between environmental change and human activities.
