Gemma Mateo
Gemma Mateo is a postdoctoral researcher in the GEOTRADE project and senior scientist in the Department of Political Science of the University of Salzburg. She received her PhD from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2004. Her research focuses on questions of international relations, European integration, and interest group politics. The book „Insiders versus Outsiders: Interest Group Politics in Multilevel Europe,“ which she co-authored, was published by Oxford University Press in 2016.
Denis Anwar
Denis Anwar is a doctoral researcher in the GEOTRADE project. Before joining the team, he worked as a political consultant at Berlin Global Advisors. In this role, he engaged with topics that intersected with geostrategy and security. Denis holds a Master of Arts in International Political Economy from King's College London, where his thesis explored the relationship between income inequality and the effectiveness of economic sanctions. He also serves on the Board of the German Council on Foreign Relations' Youth Organization (Junge DGAP).
Mehmet Yavuz
Mehmet Yavuz is a postdoctoral researcher in the GEOTRADE project. He completed his PhD in Political Science at Central European University in Vienna. During his PhD work, Mehmet taught introductory courses on statistics and political institutions at CEU. His research interests include the politics of trade, quantitative text analysis, causal inference, and authoritarian regimes.
Young-Jun Choi
Young-Jun Choi is a doctoral researcher in the GEOTRADE project. He completed his BA and MA in Political Science at Yonsei University, with his thesis analyzing the correlation between economic sanctions and military conflicts. Before joining the project, he worked as a project manager at a startup focused on stealth nanomaterials. His research interests include trade policy, economic sanctions, economic crises, and science and technological innovation. Methodologically, he is particularly interested in statistical methods for causal inference.
