In this lab, we mainly try to understand the dynamics of material deformation using high-speed imaging. The main aim of high-speed imaging is to understand the processes in real-time, which cannot be understood with the naked eye. High-speed imaging extends its use from fluid mechanics to fracture mechanics to rock mechanics and whatnot!

The high-speed camera we use is a Phantom VEO E series camera which can go up to 3200 fps at a max resolution of 1280x800 and even up to 2 lakh fps at lower resolutions.
