Sometimes I need Georgian fonts to use in my designs. For this reason, I have to list many fonts and choose one of them, adobefonts.com has great filters in this regard and it helps me a lot, but when I want to view fonts with a Georgian character set, I can't find the georgian language family from the part that appears in the screenshot below.

and scroll the list that says "languages and writing system"

However, I don't seem to see any georgian there. (It's a pity as they're beautiful characters )

Unless there is another way to describe georgian?

Please attach the font.

Some language-specific fonts are modified versions of old Arial fonts.

And they often do not fix all the name fields correctly.

So it would help to be able to examine the actual font.

My Problem is the Georgian Font (character set) and i cant read something in the Chrome Browser or somewhere i have georgian fonts .. For me is this not directly important because for me is german and english enough but for my wife here in Georgia!

If so you can workaround if you replace the font with the full version instead of the light version that doesn not include the fontset for "special" languages. Not sure how it works but you likely just need to replace the font at your kodi skin.

in the standard skin i can used Arial based and in the xperiance1080 skin i must used other fonts as the included fonts! I test first with the arial based font but i need other because the OpenSansCond dont support georgian!

UTF-8 is unicode, it has the property to display any language. As long as you LC_CTYPE locale (just type locale) is UTF-8, you should see Georgian correctly. By the way, although not completely sure because I do not know Georgian, but your Georgian text appears to be Georgian for me. Most probably you do not have a font with Georgian support installed while I have. Look at the Archlinux wiki page to see what fonts are available: I think DejaVu support many languages and probably Georgian. Launch gucharmap and see if the Georgian character are correctly displayed with your choose font. You then must choose this font as default. DejaVu set itself as default for the generic aliases Sans, etc..; you should also see an option in your desktop.

Great news!

If You're looking for new font, I'd suggest using DejaVu font family, as it's published under free license AND it contains a whole lot of glyphs.

Dedicated mtavruli Unicode characters were only introduced in Unicode v11 (2018). Prior to that, authors had to use special fonts with the mkhedruli code points in order to write mtavruli letters, and CSS text-transforms (ie. to uppercase) had no effect. Unicode 11 introduced not just the new characters, but also mappings from mkhedruli (lowercase) to mtavruli (uppercase).

Google updated Noto Georgian fonts to cover Georgian Extended characters. These fonts are not included in Android 10, but they are already used by Manjaro Linux (Arch Linux), which has latest glibc libraries, so Mtavruli is fully supported there and Georgian capital letters can be typed using Caps Lock.

Priority:When first raised this issue was marked as basic. Given the new support added to various pre-installed fonts on Mac and Windows and the other platforms mentioned, the priority is reduced to advanced.

This situation lead Chrome and Firefox in 2018 to add workarounds to their browsers that prevented the conversion of Mkhedruli characters to Mtavruli when using CSS text-transform:uppercase. (Conversion from Mtavruli to Mkhedruli works, however.) This workaround is still in place, even though there is now better support for Mtavruli in pre-installed fonts on both the Mac and Windows platforms.

One annoyance however is that CJK fonts (those which support Chinese, Japanese, and/or Korean) usually only contain glyphs for Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic at best. Often the Asian glyphs will be beautiful but the other glyphs can be quite ugly.

My editor of choice is gVim, so an answer telling me how to set it to use two fonts together would be just as good. Currently I'm using it mostly under Windows 7 so a vim-specific solution would be needed rather than a *nix-specific solution.

Vim allows to set a different font for double-width characters via the 'guifontwide' setting. Also, see :help 'guifontset' for a Unix-specific setting. If all that doesn't help, I'd suggest defining custom mappings / commands / shell aliases that allow you quickly toggle the 'guifont' being used.
