Kickstart offers hands-on experience in managing, investing in, and tracking seed-stage investments. Associates conduct commercial and financial due diligence, evaluate pitches, source companies, and track our investment performance. As one of few student-run funds in the country that fully distributes capital to startups, new members receive training surrounding key topics in finance, entrepreneurship, and investing.
Kickstart is one of UGA's preeminent student organizations. Our members regularly place into internships and full-time roles in highly competitive fields. Since our inception in 2018, Kickstart alumni have gone on to internship and full-time roles at companies including Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, Citi, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, J.P. Morgan, Deloitte, BlackRock, NBCUniversal, and more.

Time Commitment
Time Commitment
The expected time commitment of an associate is 2-4 hours per week. Meetings occur weekly on Tuesdays at 5:15pm ET and generally end at 6:45pm ET. Outside of these meetings, members must fulfill their committee duties and attend periodic entrepreneurship events.
Eligibility
Eligibility
All undergraduate students are eligible, even if you are not a Terry major.
Exceptional applicants show strong academic performance, varied extracurricular involvement, a demonstrated business skillset and startup interest, solid communication and analytical abilities, and, most importantly, interest in entrepreneurship, startups, and/or venture capital.
In addition, you must be actively enrolled or intending to enroll in the Entrepreneurship (ENTR) Certificate. Beyond this, as Kickstart is a full-year commitment, you must be present on-campus (not studying abroad) for the entire academic year of 2026-2027.Committee Information
Regardless of the committee you choose, all members of Kickstart hear and deliberate on pitches collectively. Committees are groups formed to carry out non-pitch-related Kickstart functions. Thoughtfully consider how your proven experience and interests align with the committee of your choosing, since we will review your application in the context of your chosen committee.
Deal Sourcing
Deal sourcing is our outreach specialists, managing our applicant pipeline and building relationships with students, professors, and departments to ensure that a steady stream of startups apply for funding.

Communications
Communications ensures that Kickstart is well-known on campus. This committee creates social media content and oversees broad outreach initiatives. Beyond this, communications focuses on creating and maintaining Kickstart's brand.

Experience working with graphic design tools like Canva
Prior web design or development experience
History of managing social media or a brand
Written content creation experience
Portfolio Management
Portfolio management ensures Kickstart operates smoothly by keeping the Fund up to date on (and evaluating) companies that have been funded, in addition to writing formal investment recommendations.

Proven history of diligent and high-quality work, whether academic, within on-campus organizations, or professionally
Strong attention to detail
Recruiting and Operations
Recruiting and operations assists founders throughout the pitching process, evaluating initial applications and scheduling initial and final pitches. For a few months of the year, this committee also recruits new members.
What could make you stand out?
Prior experience with operations or management
Past recruitment roles in a club or organization
Leadership experience in any organization
