Targeted cancer vaccines eliminate tumors and prevent recurrence in mice.
Tufts School of Engineering researchers has devised a method of targeting cancer in mice with a vaccine that is so strong and precise that it eliminates tumors and even prevents their recurrence.
Researchers are hoping that the new vaccine delivery mechanism could become a universal platform not only for cancer vaccines but also for more effective vaccines against viruses and other pathogens.
University of British Columbia researchers are developing oral insulin tablets that can replace the daily use of insulin injections.
Researchers observed that oral insulin tablets are absorbed by rats similarly to injected insulin.
“These exciting results show that we are on the right track in developing an insulin formulation that will no longer need to be injected before every meal, improving the quality of life, as well as mental health, of more than nine million Type 1 diabetics around the world.” says professor Dr. Anubhav Pratap-Singh, the principal investigator from the faculty of land and food systems.
