As a professional zooarchaeologist, I provide expert analysis and reporting on animal remains from archaeological sites, helping to unlock insights into past environments, diets, economies, and human-animal interactions. My work spans a wide range of temporal periods and site types across Britain, from the Prehistoric to the Post-Medieval.
I am comfortable working with mammal, bird, fish and amphibian remains and specialise in fish and terrestrial microfauna assemblages, offering detailed identification, quantification, and interpretation to support research and commercial projects alike. My services include:
Assessment (with CIfA Level 1 + 2 Report)
Identification and assessment of faunal material to determine research potential and inform project planning.
Analysis (with CIfA Level 3 Report)
Identification, quantification, and taphonomic interpretation of assemblages, contributing to the understanding of the nature of the assemblage and deposits from which it derives, answering questions about the site with an emphasis on the project's research design and regional and national research frameworks.
Publication Support
Preparation of clear, structured reports and the ability to support the adaptation and incorporation of reports into publications and presentations intended for a wide range of audiences.
Consultancy and Advice
Provision of guidance on the excavation, sampling, cleaning and archiving of faunal remains.
I am committed to delivering accurate, insightful, and timely analyses that enhance understanding of past human-animal relationships. Projects of any size or complexity are welcome, and I am happy to work with you to see how I can best fulfil the needs of your project.
