One of our team members has a pug named George. He's adorable, stubborn, and full of personality. One day, someone asked:
"What if we made a language named after George? Something cute, funny, but also powerful and easy to learn?"
That idea stuck. And George Language (GLang) was born.
We made GLang because we believe beginner-friendly languages don’t have to be boring. George inspired us to create a funny/goofy syntax that replicates his personality. For example, we use built-ins like bark or chew to print and get user input, dig or bury to read from files, and fetch to work with modules.
Surprisingly, this made GLang more expressive and easier to read. Using a mix of humor and fun to define the syntax can actually help the mind remember built-in features and functions.
GLang is great for everyone. Rather than focusing on a language that can run operating systems or develop web apps, we focused on a language that anyone can learn and read. People can tinker with it, and explore the true foundations of programming.
