George Douglas Newton
On June 6, 1971 according to the June 7, 1971 issue of the Baltimore Sun, a badly decomposed naked body believed to be that of a male in his 20s was found in Leakin Park. The body was discovered shortly before noon by two area residents in a wooded area about 25 feet off the roadway in the 3700 block of Winterbourne Road. There were no apparent signs of assault on the body police said. Police did not classify the case as a homicide but reported that there had been a total of 17 homicide cases in the city during the previous 8 days.
In order to identify the body I contacted the Cold Case Squad of the Baltimore City Police Department in December of 2010. I suppose that if the case had made its was to the Cold Case unit they must be thinking it may have been a homicide.
