The course got up and running in the fall of 2016 and even though it was a long process creating the course, we still had a huge success.
It all started during the week back from Christmas break. We had one week to create something to benefit the community or world for a school project. This week in school is called "Genius Week". During the week we got everything planed out and decided we were going to need some extra money to complete this project. We got sponsors for every hole and we received a grant from the Lyon County River Boat Foundation for $2,000. We then went on to map out the entire course with help from a professional frisbee golf course creator. The professionals name was Tanner Lyons and he was from Sheldon, Iowa. He really helped us create a beautiful course that really flows together well. After we had it mapped out, we ordered a large map sign to show the entire course and 9 little signs for every tee off. These signs are personalized to show you the direction to throw the disk to the desired basket. The next step was to take an afternoon to cement in-place the baskets and place the tee off posts in the ground. This was done with the help of the George community members and the Park and Rec Council. When the signs arrived we screwed them into place and the course was complete. We also set up a check out system for the golf discs at the George Public library.
Many people have used the course in the short time that it has been in operation. It has been a huge success and we are glad to have taken on this project.
