Tartu
Tartu, with its population of about 100 000 is the second largest city of Estonia. Lying 185 kilometers south of the capital Tallinn, it is also the centre of Southern Estonia.
Travelling
There exist direct flights to Tallinn (the capital of Estonia) from many cities all over Europe.
- The best way from Tallinn airport to Tartu is by bus. LUXExpress bus company buses stop at the airport. Buses leave for Tartu in almost every half an hour. When buying the ticket, starting point is Tallinn Airport and destination Tartu Coach Station. The bus driver can scan the QR code from your phone or other device, but to be on the safe side, you can also print out your ticket before travelling. The coach station is in the town center and most hotels are in walking distance of up to 1 km.
- The central bus station is 2km from the airport, in case You want to take a bus at a different time. Information about the buses and timetables can be found here.
- It also possible to get to Tartu by train. The train stop is about 1 km walk away from the airport. When buying the ticket, starting point is Ülemiste and destination Tartu. The trains don't go very often but they are comfortable and faster than buses. The train station in Tartu is 1,5 km walk away from the city center.
