We are working alongside the City of Des Moines, a small suburb south of Seattle, to bring two interactive data visualization experiences to the public. The first is a development storymap, utilizing Esri’s interactive narrative map features to bring new development projects to the city’s public GIS site.
The second is an interactive capital improvements dashboard for residents to track the ongoing progress of public capital improvements like new infrastructure and road repairs. We are working off of two examples provided by the city to guide our work in this project: the city of North Bend’s publicly available Storymap, and the capital improvements dashboard provided by the city of Encinitas, CA. The city has enlisted us to get the first build of both of these tools up and running and leave behind a streamlined data pipeline that allows city departments to easily update and maintain the tools.
