This page is for digital notes that I've taken, either to learn a concept or prep for a talk! Most are pretty informal, and there may be some errors/typos.
scl, surfaces, and quasimorphisms. These are the slides from a talk I gave at BUGCAT 2025, outlining the connections between scl, low-dimensional topology, and quasimorphisms (functions from a group to the reals that are bounded away from being homomorphisms)!
Tangloids and the Balinese cup trick. This is a talk I gave in the Purdue Student Topology Seminar. Quite accessible and you get to do some fun demos! The tangloids can be made with pencils, string, and hot glue, and the cup trick requires only one's arm.
The quadratrix of Hippias. This is a talk I gave for the Purdue Math History Seminar, outlining an ancient Greek construction which purported to produce a solution to the problem of squaring the circle (although there are some problems with the approach, as Sporus noted).
