Landforms
Florida is located within the general coastal plains of the United States.
"The formations of the coastal plain are sedimentary, containing much clay, limestone and sandstone, and lie nearly horizontal or with slight dip. The sediment making up these deposits came from higher land to the north and west. The sea occupying the present position of Florida, was in early times remote from the sources of sediment, so that the proportion of wash was much less here than nearer the original shore line. This clear sea was favorable to the existence of shell life, the remains accumulating to form shell rock. Hence in the early history of Florida in particular a large amount of lime and shell rock accumulated" (20).
Most of Florida's modern topographic features/surficial sediments were created when sea levels were high. "Waves and currents in these ancient seas eroded the exposed formations of previous epochs, reshaping earlier landforms and redistributing eroded sediments over a wide area" (23)
Also, Florida is not located near any tectonic plate boundaries, thus earthquakes are very rare.

Weathering and erosion can occur due to a range of factors.
Coastal erosion is a natural and gradual process. The changes in sea-level moves sand parallel to the coast in longshore currents. So, sand is constantly removed then replaced (21).
"Human development and construction activities resulting in the unnatural trapping of sand have the potential to result in significant coastal erosion over time" (21).
"The most severe coastal erosion can occur over a very short period of time when the state is impacted by storms or tropical systems" (21).
Water
Florida's water supply originates from systems of rivers, streams, wetlands, lakes, springs, aquifers and estuaries. And these are used for "public water supply, agricultural irrigation, commercial/industrial/institutional uses, domestic and small public supply, recreational irrigation, and power generation" (22).
St. Johns River watershed is located in Orlando. The watershed contains 6 lakes/ponds, 12 rivers/streams/canals and 0 bays/bayous (22).
