Compilation of writeups regarding the world of Genshin Impact

About Genshin Impact studies

I mainly post them through my Reddit account, u/MatthewSDeOcampo. These are my attempts to write about the world of Genshin Impact. These are all speculative, however, the degree in which I try to make my speculations rigorous vary depending on the theme of the document I have in mind. Hopefully, you can sense these variations as you read through any of them.

Most of the longer documents follow the Intro-Methods-Results&Discussion-Conclusion-References format. For the shorter ones, I cannot be bothered to establish a consistent structure. In any case, I do my best to cite my sources well.

    • NOTES:
      • I consider this document as an addendum to my 2021 November 07 study, Area and Elevation Estimates of various locations in Teyvat as of Genshin Impact ver. 2.2 with some distance speculation in-game to in-lore.
    • NOTES:
      • This study is methodologically the same as my documents for version 2.1. Area estimate: added Tsurumi Island. Height estimates: added Yashiori Island, Amakumo Peak, Mt. Kanna, Tsurumi Island northern underwater ruins, Jade Chamber (before completing "A New Star Approches").
      • This is the doc wherein I actually proposed a quantitative relationship between the size of in-game Teyvat and in-lore Teyvat. I used the lore detail mentioned in one of the version 2.1 Moonchase Festival quests regarding a supposed distance between the Guili Plains civilization and Liyue Harbor.
      • I compared the proposed size of Teyvat I calculated with one of the character stories of Hu Tao.
      • As usual, I also made some comparisons with Earth in real life.
      • In view of the overall findings, this is also the document wherein I proposed a systematic way to imagine any speculative "real" size of Teyvat vis-a-vis the information we are given in-game and in-lore.
    • NOTES:
      • This is the document wherein I started formally considering an attempt to derive a calculatable relationship between in-game Teyvat and in-lore Teyvat.
      • I compared the heights of these two features in-game versus the heights of some features on Earth in real life.
    • NOTES:
      • This document updates all of my previous estimates (which were done in version 1.3). This serves as the basis of most of my other geographical size estimates, moving forward.
      • Apart from comparing some in-game location sizes to locations on Earth, I also managed to measure the length of the fossilized remains of Orobashi no Mikoto. This served as a motivation for me to proceed with a speculative allomtry for the serpent form of Orobashi.
