Join the Geneva Lent Retreat

Our Lent Retreat is a journey in prayer based on the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius Loyola. The purpose is to help participants to get to know and love Jesus Christ better in order to live a deeper and more authentic Christian life.

The retreat can be followed individually, or as either a family or group.

Daily Prayer: Each day of Lent and for one week of Easter, you are provided with daily prayer material, a picture and other reflections. You are invited to spend 15 minutes to an hour each day of Lent praying with this material.

Group meeting: You are also invited to join a group of fellow retreatants on a weekly basis to share your journey and be challenged to learn to pray in a new way. These facilitated meetings will be one hour in duration.

Prayer Materials: A free online version of our book is available at: https://www.iscglasgow.co.uk/onlinebook.html or a printed version can be obtained from the Parish of John XXIII after various masses. Every day there is one passage from Scripture plus 'A Thought for Today' and a picture to ponder. We also give a few suggestions on how to pray the day’s materials.

Reflecting on Prayer: After each day’s prayer we suggest that you jot down in a journal a few notes on how the prayer had gone. This will help your sharing either within your family or the group if you joined one. It can also be used to reflect on how things are moving during Lent and see whether you discern any patterns in the way God is dealing with you.

Registration: The Lenten Retreat groups have started and the registration is closed, however if you would like to share this Lenten Retreat with a group locally, then please send an email to lentenretreat@johnXXIII.ch and indicate which group you would like to join. We will contact you to check the possibilities to join a group..
