If you want open-ear safety and a secure fit for high-speed outdoor movement, choose Generic S10; if you need immersive silence and studio-grade call clarity in chaotic environments, choose Anker Soundcore Liberty 5.
• Generic S10: Delivers an open-ear design that keeps your surroundings audible with a lightweight 30.3g build, but sacrifices deep bass isolation and active noise cancellation. Best for runners, cyclists, and commuters who prioritize situational awareness.
• Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro: Offers industry-leading active noise cancellation and a Guinness World Records-certified AI chip for flawless calls, though the in-ear design blocks out ambient sound and adds slightly more weight. Best for travelers, office workers, and audiophiles seeking total immersion.
• The Verdict: If your priority is staying safe while moving fast outdoors, the S10 wins. If your priority is shutting out the world to focus on music or work, the Liberty 5 is the superior choice.
The Generic S10 is built around a philosophy of freedom rather than isolation. Its defining characteristic is the open-ear architecture, which uses a combination of bone conduction and air conduction technology to deliver audio without blocking your ears. This isn't just a feature; it is a fundamental design choice that dictates who should buy this product. The device weighs only 30.3 grams, a figure that translates to a barely-there feel during long sessions. Whether you are wearing them for a morning jog or a two-hour commute, the ergonomic ear hooks integrated with Ni-Ti alloy memory wire ensure the unit stays put. You do not have to constantly adjust the fit because the frame is designed to defy slips and shifts even when you are sweating or moving quickly.
This product is specifically engineered for scenarios where hearing your environment is non-negotiable. The dual wind-resistant microphones are positioned to filter out 96.5% of background noise, including wind speeds up to 15 miles per hour, ensuring your voice comes through clearly on calls without isolating you from traffic or other hazards. For those looking for bluetooth earbuds for cycling, the S10 offers a unique advantage: you can hear the approaching cars while enjoying your playlist. The battery life supports up to 12 hours of continuous play, making it ideal for all-day adventures where charging isn't an option. However, users expecting heavy, thumping bass typical of sealed over-ear cans will find the sound profile different. The audio is clear and immersive, utilizing 3D audio technology, but it does not seal the ear canal to create physical pressure or silence.

You should skip this product if you plan to use it on a noisy subway, in a loud office, or during a flight. Without active noise cancellation, external sounds will always bleed into your listening experience. The lack of an in-ear seal means you cannot rely on these buds to drown out a crying baby or a construction site. Instead, choose the S10 if you value safety above silence. The inclusion of a carrying case and a warranty period of two years suggests durability, but the primary selling point remains the open-ear design that lets you power through workouts while remaining connected to the world around you. It is a tool for the active user who refuses to be cut off from reality.
The Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro takes a completely opposite approach, focusing on the creation of a private sonic bubble. This product is defined by its Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) capabilities, which process over 384,000 noise signals per second to block out subway chaos, street noise, and office distractions. With 8 sensors working in tandem with the proprietary Thus AI Chip, the noise cancellation is described as 100% more effective than its predecessor, delivering instant pure silence. This makes it the ideal companion for anyone who needs to focus deeply, whether that is studying, working remotely, or simply enjoying music without interruption. The in-ear design ensures a tight seal that physically isolates your auditory system from the outside world, allowing the dynamic drivers to reproduce sound with precision and depth that open-ear designs simply cannot match.
Call quality is another area where this product dominates, backed by a Guinness World Record certification for speech quality scores. The 10-sensor array and AI processing allow for crystal-clear communication even in environments exceeding 100 decibels. Whether you are shouting over a crowd or whispering in a quiet room, the system adapts to ensure your voice is heard. For professionals who spend their days on video calls, the ability to handle extreme noise levels is a game-changer. The battery life is equally robust, offering up to 12 hours of playback, or 28 hours when combined with the charging case. Even with ANC engaged, you get 6.5 hours of continuous use, and a quick 5-minute charge provides 4 hours of listening time. The Bluetooth 6.1 connectivity ensures lag-free performance, supporting 20 built-in voice commands for offline control.
However, this level of immersion comes with a trade-off: you lose situational awareness. The in-ear form factor means you cannot hear approaching vehicles or announcements unless you manually engage transparency modes, which are not explicitly detailed as a primary feature in the core specs compared to the ANC dominance. Additionally, the case dimensions—6.2 cm in length and 6.1 cm in width—are compact but add to the overall carry weight of 57.5 grams. This product is perfect for the commuter who wants to escape the noise of the train, the traveler seeking rest on a plane, or the gamer needing zero latency. It is less suitable for road cyclists or runners who require constant auditory feedback from their environment for safety reasons. If your goal is to retreat from the world, the Liberty 5 Pro is unmatched.
