Jaewook Lee is a professor in the Department of Architecture at Gachon University, where he directs the Generative Design (GD) Lab. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of Illinois, an M.S. from KAIST, and a B.S. from Hongik University. At the GD Lab, he pioneers the fusion of generative design and architectural innovation, developing advanced automation algorithms that empower machines to perceive architecture much like humans do. Professor Lee’s career, marked by key roles at Hyundai E&C and KICT, is driven by the vision of machines as cognitive partners that learn from vast datasets to generate countless innovative design alternatives. In his presentation, he will explore the tangible impact of this work, applying generative design to revolutionize semiconductor facility planning.
