Charter for Youth Climate Advocacy Empowerment: "Generation Resonance"

#NextGen_EcoLife

In recognition of the urgent need for climate action and the vital role of the youth in shaping our sustainable future, we present "Generation Resonance." As young leaders and climate advocates, we aim to amplify our voices, catalyze impactful change, and provide a platform for the next generation to be heard.

Meet our Climate Advocates

In the dynamic scenario of climate defense, João Maria Botelho, associate researcher at NOVA Green Lab, Global Shaper at the World Economic Forum, and part of the Start Lisbon innovation network, is blazing the trail beyond the sea at COP28.

His team, made up of Joana Chaves Batista, a researcher at NOVA Tax Lab; Margarida Mingote, a researcher in intellectual property at NOVA IPSI; and Andreza Caldeira, also a student at NOVA, are the backbone of the #NextGen_EcoLife movement, giving young Portuguese voices at COP28.

Preamble:

We, the undersigned young advocates for sustainability in Portugal, recognizing the imperative for urgent action to address global challenges, hereby establish this Charter for Sustainable Youth Futures. Embracing our roles as fresh voices with innovative perspectives, we aim to contribute to the transformative agenda set forth by the United Nations, infusing it with the vigor and dynamism of the next generation.

#NextGen_EcoLife

The United Nations Association's #NextGen EcoLife initiative aims to provide a platform for young people in Portugal to express their concerns in an institutional, legal and ethical manner. This initiative aims to gather significant contributions for Portugal's participation in COP 28 (the 28th session of the United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change). This crucial event is scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates (Expo City Dubai) between November 30 and December 12, 2023.

UNA Portugal is the result of a movement of "bright minds" who share a significant purpose: to contribute to global awareness and promote active citizenship. In a world in constant transformation, the association has emerged as a response to the growing need for intervention and the search for solutions to contemporary challenges. Characterized by its comprehensiveness, inclusiveness, and parity, UNA Portugal plays a fundamental role in disseminating the principles contained in the United Nations Charter. In addition, it seeks to collaborate with international organizations and position itself as a stakeholder, translating its convictions into concrete actions and projects.
