We aim to create an alliance of book clubs who are welcoming and supportive of including different generations. We also want to make it as easy as possible for people to find a club that's right for them.

Bringing generations together

It's fair to say that older and younger people have been pretty divided in recent years and struggled to see eye to eye. But now in the middle of this crisis we think it's possible to come together through a joint love of reading!

After all, this is needed more than ever. Loneliness has had a negative impact on wellbeing for nearly one in three of us across all ages during lockdown.

But there are some solutions. For those that feel lonely, some of the best things to help people cope and feel better include spending time with others and reading. In fact, more than 40% of people who felt lonely recently said that reading was a real help.

By joining book clubs, particularly in a safe online environment, older and younger generations can also get to know each other a bit better too! Outside of family, when really was the last time you got to speak to someone of a totally different generation to you?

So by getting more people to join brilliant book clubs, maybe we can start to build some bridges whilst feeling more upbeat and happier in the process!
