Tate Yawitz
Tate is currently a PhD student in neuroscience at Columbia University. With a background in evolutionary genetics and behavioral neurobiology, Tate holds a bachelor's degree in biology and philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh and master's degrees in Evolutionary Biology from Uppsala University in Sweden and LMU in Germany. Before starting his PhD, he conducted research at the University of Pittsburgh, Uppsala University, the University of Montpellier, the Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence, and Harvard University. Tate is interested in the intersection of neuroscience, genetics, and behavior, with particular interests in social behaviors. Outside the lab, he's passionate about science communication and outreach, and enjoys running, cooking, and exploring new coffee shops around New York.
Eddy Mendoza
Eddy is a plant geneticist with a bachelor's degree in Agrigenomic Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and two master's degrees from Uppsala University (Sweden) and Ludwig Maximilians University (Germany). Eddy is interested in the evolution of plant physiology and is passionate about science communication and illustration. His experience includes studying the origin of tequila, the epigenetics of sex and the root microbiome, and how we can breed plants that grow in the desert. Eddy strongly believes in the power of comics and games to bring kids closer to science, so they join our fight for a better tomorrow. As part of his hobbies, he likes experimenting in the kitchen, reading manga, producing music and painting.
