When it comes to relationships, I think it's safe to say that Taylor Swift has gotten the most criticism for her dating life. In her 20's Taylor dated a few different Men not unlike a regular 20-year-old. Taylor states that she pretty much stopped dating when she started feeling like the criticism was too much. "Then they decided I was a serial dater — a boy-crazy man-eater — when I was 22. And so I didn’t date anyone for, like, two years" (Hiatt). The photo to the right depicts one of the many headlines criticizing Taylor Swift.
When Jennifer Aniston went through a divorce from Justin Theroux in 2018, she commented on the theories the media was spinning about her relationship and why it ended.
"'The misconceptions are "Jen can’t keep a man," and "Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career." Or that I’m sad and heartbroken. First, with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken. And second, those are reckless assumptions. No one knows what’s going on behind closed doors. No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me," she said.'" (Greenberg).
Many of these headlines place blame on Jennifer Aniston for the end of her relationship, and also speculate that she wasn't enough for her partner, and that's the reason the relationship ended.
Harry Styles, who briefly dated Taylor Swift in 2012, is also often found in the headlines dating someone new. Even though he has (allegedly) had more significant others than Taylor Swift, his headlines are often more friendly. "Harry Styles’ dating history: A full timeline of his famous exes." This headline is free of negative bias, even though it's contents are similar to many articles about Women with much worse headlines. The only criticism Harry Styles gets is that, "clearly he likes to date older women" (Bitsky).
