Past experience
I have experience in facilitating workshops and being a workshop assistant on projects with young people aged 5-25. This has included facilitating process drama, drama games, devising performance, songwriting and band mentorship. As part of my work, I value creating and supporting spaces that widen access and opportunities in the arts for all.
I have done an artist residency with 21common, a socially engaged interdisciplinary performance company who bring young people to the forefront of their work. As part of a collaboration between Oakwood Primary and 21 common, we worked together to create a performance that was then shown to the school community and the performer's families. As part of this process, we created a world for the young people to come into, but that they could also bring their own ideas into and make their own.
Currently
I have worked as a student assistant for Transitions at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for the last three years. This department looks to bring down barriers that may usually prevent people from accessing the arts, and provides them with opportunities and support to prepare for higher education and/or a career in the performing arts.
I am also currently a band mentor at Girls Rock Glasgow, a charity that empowers the young girls and non-binary musicians of tomorrow. We bring them into the world of D.I.Y by giving them the tools they need to bring their own dream band to life. As a band mentor, I have helped the young people write their own songs and learn covers that have then been performed at Girls Rock Glasgow gigs.
I am also an associate artist for Toonspeak Young People's Theatre's Young Company, a group aged between 18 and 25, developing their performance and devising skills.
