Sharing Your Gemini Canvas Activity on Google Sites
Part 1: Embedding Your Interactive Activity
Step 1: Get the Code from Gemini Canvas
In your Gemini Canvas session, copy the entire code block. Go to “Share” then “Copy Contents.”
Step 2: Use the "Embed Code" Tool
Go to your Google Site (or create a new one).
In the bottom right corner, click on the + sign and select “Full page embed” (it looks like a set of angle brackets < >).
Give a name to your page (name of activity is recommended) and click Done.
In the pop-up window, select “Add Embed”.
Under “embed code,” paste the entire code block you copied from Gemini into the text box.
Click Next, then click Insert.
Part 2: Organizing Your Activities (Page Structure)
Google Sites offers flexibility for organizing your activities.
Option A: Subject Pages (recommended for elementary)
Main Page: Create a page for each subject (e.g., ELA, Social Studies, Math, Science).
Subpages: Under each main subject page, create a subpage for each activity (e.g., "Jeopardy: Forces," "Ecosystem Quiz").
To Create a Subpage:
In the right-hand menu, click the Pages tab.
Find the main subject page (e.g., "Science").
Click the three-dot menu next to that page name.
Select Add subpage and give it the name of your activity.
Option B: Direct Activity Pages
Separate Pages: Create a unique, dedicated page for every single activity or game (e.g., "Forces Jeopardy," "Plant Cell Diagram," "Civil War Timeline").
Part 3: Publishing and Sharing with Students
Your students can only see the activities once you have published the website.
Step 1: Publish Your Site
In the upper right corner of the Google Site editor, click the blue Publish button.
If this is your first time publishing, you will be prompted to enter a web address (URL) for your site. Choose something simple and recognizable (e.g., sites.google.com/view/mrs-nagham-activities).
Click Publish.
Step 2: Share the Link
After publishing, click the drop-down arrow next to the Publish button and select View published site.
Copy the URL from your browser's address bar. This is the link you share with students.
Tip:
If you have an activity that is not ready for students yet, you can hide it from the site's navigation menu while you work on it. The page will remain hidden until you choose to show it again.
In the right-hand menu, click the Pages tab.
Find the page or subpage you want to hide (e.g., "Ecosystem Quiz").
Click the three-dot menu next to that page name.
Select Hide from navigation.
Important: Click the Publish button again to update your live site. The page will be invisible in the navigation, but you can still access it via a direct link. To make it visible again, repeat steps 2 and 3, and then select 'Show in navigation.'
