About this seminar and the GEM Report 2022 Fellows
The seminar
This research seminar is organized by the UNESCO Global Education Monitorng (GEM) Report fellows 2022 with support from the Faculty of Arts , the Centre for Research on Children & Families (CRCF), and the School of Social Work, McGill University.
The fellows constitute seven scholars competitively selected from across world for the 2022 GEM Report Fellowship. These fellows have been working closely over the past year with the GEM Report research team on research areas that aim to bring a novel perspective to aid the monitoring and attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (#SDG 4) on education. Our individual research thus cuts across comparative and case-study insights on educational equity and the attainment of SDGs related to education in the global South.
The aim this seminar is to provide a platform for the fellows to share their research findings with the community of students, academics, and policy professionals at McGill, and to create connections and collaborations for future research. The presentations will feature inter-disciplinary themes on:
On class-room pedagogy and learning achievement
Technology integration in education
Climate change impact on children's education
Improving learning equity and global education monitoring
Education data and indicators available for research
Expected benefits
This knowledge dissemination seminar comes with expected benefits for the community of students, academics and policy professionals within the international education and development research. It will offer a platform to discuss research findings while featuring:

Inter-disciplinary themes on class-room pedagogy, technology, climate change, and their impact on educational equity.
Policy-specific proposals for enhancing educational equity and attainment of SDGs on education.
presentations from the fellows will provide a perfect opportunity to gain exposure and insight into new research areas and develop new research direction for student researchers, especially graduate students interested in research areas in education and the (SDGs). The seminar will also serve as course supplements for both undergraduate and graduate students in cross-disciplinary, policy related fields in education, climate change, and technology. For established academics and policy professionals, this will offer a platform for knowledge exchange, network development, and potential collaborations. Overall, this seminar is expected to provide opportunity for students, academics, and policy professionals alike, to be abreast with up-to-date research in thematic areas pertinent to the attainment of the SDGs in education.
