About GEG Iowa's Leader

Teaching Experience

I began my teaching career in 2013 after graduating from Iowa State University. My first role was teaching remedial literacy to 6th-8th grade, then I moved to 6th grade literature and language arts. I discovered my passion for integrating technology into classrooms and taught technology to 5th-8th graders shortly thereafter. Recognizing the need for further experience, I pursued a master's in Instructional Design with a focus on Technology in Schools.

Once COVID hit, I taught 5th grade general education while completing my master's and up until I found my current job. Now, I work as an Instructional Designer and Educational Technology Specialist for the Iowa Educational Services of the Blind and Visually Impaired, helping teachers with educational technology.

Reviving GEG Iowa

Early in my career, I was involved with GEG Iowa but took a break during my master's. Upon returning, I found GEG Iowa had disbanded, so after reaching out to some contacts, I decided to help revive it. We're still getting started, but I hope to rebuild this community with everyone's support.
