FAQs

What is InfoDeck?

InfoDeck is an app that allow users to send and receive announcements and perform various other tasks, such as creating polls and requesting documents, within their institution. It can also be used to learn more about the members of the institution. Essentially, it brings all the relevant information and communication for an institution into one place.

How can I find my institution on InfoDeck?

To find your institution on InfoDeck, you will need a six-character 'Joining code' from an admin of the institution. If your institution is not already on InfoDeck, you can encourage them to join by installing the 'InfoDeck For Institutions' app, which is available on the Google Play Store and Apple store.

How can I join an institution?

To join an institution, you will need to:

1. Use the joining code to access the institution.

2. Select the appropriate set within the institution.

3. Fill out the form and submit it.

Note: Do not enter sensitive information such as password, debit card numbers etc. on the form. After you submit the membership request, it will be reviewed and you will become a member once it is accepted by the institution or by an admin.

Who is an Admin?

An Admin is a member just like other members.

-Any accepted member of any set can be selected as an Admin by the institution only.

-An Admin can accept and reject membership requests.

-An Admin can block and unblock existing members but cannot remove or blacklist members.

-An admin can view statistics.

-An Admin can view and reply to suggestions and reports.

-Admin can view institution profile and joining code.

-Only Admins can post achievements

-Admins cannot modify rules.

Who can send and receive announcements?

The institution sets rules in place to determine who can send announcements to which members. If you see a floating button on the bottom right of the dashboard, it means you have the ability to send an announcement, poll, and document-request. When sending an announcement, you can select specific sets or attributes of members to receive the announcement. For example, you can send an announcement to all students whose department is Engineering. This ensures that members only receive relevant announcements. Polls and document-requests work the same way as announcements, but for achievements, only an admin can send, and are received by all members.

What it means to be blocked?

When a member is blocked, they will no longer receive updates or notifications from the institution until they are unblocked. During this time, the member can send a message to the institution in an attempt to be unblocked. This message may include an apology or other information that could convince the institution to unblock the member.

What it means to be removed?

Being removed from an institution on InfoDeck means that a person is no longer a member of the institution on InfoDeck. This can only be done by the institution or by the member themselves if they choose to leave. After being removed or leaving, a member can submit a request to join the institution again except if blacklisted.

What it means to be blacklisted?

When a person is blacklisted, the person can no longer join the institution again unless removed from the blacklist.

How can I change my set?

To change the set you belong to within an institution, you will need to leave the institution in the dashboard settings and then submit a new membership request to join a different set.

Where are the announcements sent by me?

Announcements, Polls, and document-requests sent by you can be seen in your dashboard profile.

Can members change the answers to polls?

No, once a member has voted in a poll, they cannot change their answer.

How to upload for a document-request from computer?

There are several ways to transfer files from a computer to a phone, depending on the type of computer and phone you are using. Here are some options:

If you are using a Mac and an iPhone, you can use Apple's AirDrop feature to transfer files wirelessly. To use AirDrop, both devices must be signed in to iCloud and have Bluetooth and WiFi enabled.

If you are using an Android phone and a Mac, you can transfer files using the Android File Transfer app, which is available for Mac.

If you are using a Windows computer and an Android phone, you can transfer files using the built-in 'Send to' feature. Simply connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable, and then drag and drop the files you want to transfer into the appropriate folder on your phone.

If you are using a Windows computer and an iPhone, you can use iTunes to transfer files. Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable, and then use iTunes to select the files you want to transfer.

For a document greater than 30MB, you can upload it on Google Drive, DropBox,etc. and share the link instead.
