Gedeon Lim

Gedeon Lim is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Hong Kong. His research lies at the intersection of development economics and political economy. His work studies how institutions, ethnic diversity and conflict shapes long-run economic and political development.

Recent projects study the effects of:  

• ethnic divisions on nationalism in Southeast Asia [new draft!]

• a key diaspora on economic development in Indonesia [under review]

• killings on education and development in South Korea [under review]

• the Green Revolution on culture [accepted]

Projects he is actively exploring:

• the effects of a change in lingua franca in schools on national identity and networks [fully-funded, surveys in preparation]
