Welcome to INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL Engineering Department, Government Engineering College, RAJKOT.
The department incepted in 2004 with a B.E program in instrumentation and control engineering with an intake of 60. In two decades the department has been developed into a major department in the institute. Intake capacity increased to 120 students from the year 2009, Further Intake capacity revised to 30 students from the year 2019 and New Branch introduced from year 2022 named Robotics and automation with 60 intakes giving added advantage for students and faculty.
The department has well established industry standard state of the art laboratories catering teaching and research. Programs offered by the department are multi-disciplinary in nature which includes electrical, electronics, instrumentation and control. It enriches the students to excel in the area of automation where the students are exposed to various subjects related to measurements and control. The students passing out are having wide scope to get career opportunities in major manufacturing, process, energy, oil and natural gas industries as well as research opportunities in highly ranked institutes and universities within and outside the country.
The department has 15 well qualified faculty members, 03 of them with PhD in diverse areas. Experts from Industry and professors from institute of repute like IISC-Banglore are amongst the adjunct faculty of the department.
Government funded research projects are being undertaken under SSIP 2.0 policy by the faculty of the department. Department organizes various technical events and regularly conducts Faculty development programs, Short term training programs and Guest lectures on subjects in thrust areas.
Instrumentation Control is an interdisciplinary area. It caters to the need of chemical, fertilizer, petrochemical, oil and refinery, power, textile, plastic, automobile, agriculture, dairy, food processing and manufacturing industries. It also covers robotics, navigation, aerospace and military applications. The under graduate programme of this branch is well appreciated and students are well accepted by the industries. The branch has a strong desire of shaping innovative alliance with industry to achieve academic excellence along with up-to-date training on current trends in process automation and industrial networking area.
