A small version of the graphic with braille labels is included with the larger piece. This helps readers quickly get an overview of the piece while accessing all the print in the original image.
I started work on this piece while working on my Paul McCartney piece.
After several weeks of working off and on, I finished tracing the original image. I had some issues with the original image opening in a low resolution. I eventually resolved this, but I had to redo a fair amount of work. :/
Prepping images for computer tracing of fine details
First test print of skeleton's ribs
Snippets for designing in Fusion
On the big printer, all the color changes have to be done manually.
Planning out depth of various layers
I liked the colors of these rose outlines as I fixed some background colors.
My computer hated all the cross hatching in this project because it created thousands of tiny 3D bodies. I was frequently looking at frozen screens like this while my computer processed commands.
So much spreadsheet
I got excited when I saw the colors of the skeleton while prepping the model for printing.
Designing the stand. Started in Fusion, but brought everything in Tinkercad to fiddle around with. Had to cut the stand into pieces to fit onto printers. Created cutouts to join the pieces. Created inner support to hold up the piece.
Getting so close. Need to print the hand and some falling petals. Then I'll smooth any sharp edges and glue everything together.
Made a mini version of the poster to add braille labels of all the text. Accidentally printed in the wrong color, but happy with the design.
I saved the falling petals for last. I had to figure out how they were falling to balance out their placement relative to other elements in the piece.
