1. Visa application
Visitors to Vietnam must have a valid passport. There are no longer any pandemic travel restrictions in place.
Visa exemptions apply to citizens of many countries, such as Southeast Asian countries, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Belarus. Citizens of the aforementioned countries do not have to apply for a visa if the duration of their stay in Vietnam does not exceed 15 days from the date of arrival (the duration is longer for some Southeast Asian countries).
Please check the following links for more details:
For citizens of other countries, complete information on how to apply for a visa to enter Vietnam can be found on the websites of Vietnam embassies or consulates.
You can apply for a visa directly at a Vietnam embassy or consulate or, more conveniently, you can apply for an electronic visa (E-visa). Vietnam's E-visa is one of several visa types offered by the Vietnam Immigration Department to foreigners entering the country. An E-visa is valid for 30 days and is single entry only. An E-visa costs 25 USD and requires three full working days to process. Vietnam's E-visa is available to nationals of 80 countries. For information on E-visa, please visit the website (https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/trang-chu-ttdt) of the Immigration Office of Vietnam.
Please also kindly check with the Vietnamese embassy in your country, or read the link for more details.

Most of our (50-minute) speakers will be staying at the Sen Grand Hotel & Spa (https://senhotelsgroup.com/grand.html, 20/118 Nguyen Khanh Toan Street, Cau Giay District, Ha Noi City, Vietnam). If you would like to stay at Sen Grand Hotel, we recommend contacting the sales manager at the hotel: Nguyen Thi Hoang Oanh (Email: ecom@senhotel.vn) to secure a better rate than booking.com. 4. How to
Noi Bai Airport is the airport of choice since it is the only airport in Hanoi. It consists of two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 (T1) serves domestic flights, while Terminal 2 (T2) handles all international flights to and from Hanoi.
How to go from Noi Bai Airport (T1 and T2) to downtown hotels?
Booking with your hotel.
The taxi costs around 15-20 USD for a one-way trip (Booking taxi).
Booking by using Grab App.
How to get around in Hanoi?
If you wish to visit many tourist attractions in Hanoi, the most convenient way to get around is by taxi or Grab (the regional version of Uber/Lyft). If you plan to use Grab, you'll need to download the Grab app on your phone beforehand and link it to your bank account or have cash on hand to pay the driver the amount shown in the app at the time of booking.
If you want to have 4G data on your phone throughout your stay, the easiest way is to buy a SIM card at the airport immediately upon arrival. Several kiosks outside the baggage claim area sell inexpensive prepaid SIM cards for tourists.
All mainstream international websites (e.g., Google) work very well in Vietnam, making it easy to navigate, find restaurants, and locate places to visit. However, smaller restaurants and vendors may not always accept credit cards, so it’s useful to exchange some money either at the airport or in the city center.
How to go from the hotel to the Institute of Mathematics?
Take a taxi or Grab or ask the hotel to call a cab for you. Walking can be difficult because, at times, you may need to cross streets without traffic lights, and vehicles may not stop for you.
Those who take a taxi should remember the address of the Institute of Mathematics:
18B Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Cau Giay district, Hanoi
In Vietnamese (to show to the taxi driver)
Viện Toán học – Viện Hàn Lâm Khoa học và Công nghệ Việt Nam
18B Hoàng Quốc Việt, Cầu Giấy, Hà Nội
