The Govt. Degree College was established as a private college by Agro Industrial Society and was started in 1967. It was taken over by government in the same year, with introduction of U.G Level courses B.Sc (M.P.C, B.Z.C), B.A, and B.Com in Telugu medium. In 1978 the college shifted to the present building with two labs provided to the Botany department. Biotechnology course started in 2003. and now B.Sc life sciences was introduced from 2019-20 and it is now combination with Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Computer Science.

Since inception of the department, It provided number of distinguished personalities in academic and scientific areas in the country and abroad.

Students of B.Sc.(Botany) will have an opportunity to join in M.Sc (Botany). it is most growing subject in naturel medicine. in our tredition plants were playing a greate role.
