Dear Students and Guardians,

With great pleasure, I welcome user community to the online web portal of GDC KHOUR library.

GDC Khour is committed to academic excellence and providing students with an opportunity to an all-round development of their personalities. As an institution, we strongly believe in building an ecosystem where robust work culture is complemented with a framework designed for the students to pursue innovation, and encourage them to lead a value-based life.

As principal, I feel proud to see our students achieving excellence in both academics and co-curricular activities. I also take this opportunity to acknowledge the utmost dedication of our faculty and staff in pushing the college towards pinnacle of success.

LIBRARY RULES and regulations

Hours of Opening

Summer: 9.00 am. To 3.00 p.m.
Winter: 9.00 am. To 3.00 p.m.
Library remains open on all working days including Summer and Winter break.
Library-cum-Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the Library.
Every member must sign the visitor register available at the entrance.
Every student at the time of borrowing books from the Library shall produce his/her Identity Card.
Under graduate students, Postgraduate students shall be permitted to borrow two/three books at a time for a maximum period of 15 days. If a student fails to return the same within prescribed time period, overdue charges/fine @ Rs 1/- per day /per book shall be recoverable from the students for the first 15 days and thereafter @ Rs 2/- per day.
Teaching faculty shall be permitted to borrow ten books at a time for a maximum period of one month. In case of failure to return the same within the prescribed period, they shall be required to deposit Rs 2/- per day/ per book.
Members of the College staff or the establishment at the time of leaving the College or transfer, retirement or otherwise shall return all the books borrowed by them before the LPC or “No Demand” certificate is issued in his favour.
Any person, who either loses a book or otherwise damages it, shall be liable to deposit an amount not less than double the cost of the book. When it belongs to a set or series, and unless he can replace it, he shall be liable to pay the cost of the whole set or series.
Library is meant only for the use of those persons who are directly or indirectly connected with the academic life of the College.
Books of the following description are meant only for consultation within library: Reference Books, Periodicals/ Magazines, Dictionaries of prominence, Encyclopaedia/Census Reports , Rare books identified by College Library Committee/Principal.
Users should not deface, cut mutilate or damage Library materials (including documents) in any form. If found guilty, users will be charged double the cost of that particular material.
A sum of Rs 50 will be charged for the loss of Library-cum-Identity card.
Strict silence, decorum and discipline must be maintained in the library.
The students shall get nothing outstanding certificate only after clearance of the books in their account.

ABOUT THE LIBRARY

The library of Government degree college is the hub of information for its users and is centrally located as per the library science norms and has collection of approximately 10852 books. The library is functioning in the newly constructed building , since 2018. Since its inception, library has shown tremendous growth in every parameter like services, collection, users , resources etc. The important sections of the library includes Reference section, circulation section, browsing section and reading room.The college library has collection of 10852 books which covers vast area of knowledge starting from social sciences, sciences, biographies, fiction and reference and many more. The library provides e-access zone to access e resources of the library as well as open access resources as it provides free wi-fi facility to its users. Several magazines , newspapers and journals have been subscribed. All the students and staff of the college have been registered in the NLIST and NDLI to access e-resources. The GDC Khour Library is fully automated with e- granthalaya 4.0 software of the NIC . And all the college users have been registered in this software. The library has created semester wise whats app groups to communicate with the students as well as to send important information time and again.
