Mission: The mission of the GCS MTSS Implementation & Leadership Teams is to align district-level initiatives and resources to optimize impact on student learning. We will prepare and support school-based MTSS teams to implement and sustain a multi-tiered system of support across academics, SEL, behavior, attendance/engagement, and mental health through professional development, technical assistance, and resources aligned with the six critical components of NC MTSS.
Vision: The GCS MTSS Implementation & Leadership Teams collaborate to cultivate a district-wide commitment to and understanding of multi-tiered systems of support as a comprehensive and sustainable model for school improvement that will result in postsecondary success for all students.
CRITICAL COMPONENTS OF NC MTSS
The Six (6) Critical Components of NC MTSS are evidence-based elements of effective district and school improvement.
The Four Essential Elements of a Multi-Tiered System of Support
The four (4) essential elements of MTSS--universal screening, progress monitoring, tiered instruction, data-based decision making--make MTSS a unique framework for comprehensive school improvement. While many frameworks for school improvement include the six (6) critical components of MTSS, these four essential elements set MTSS apart from these models.
