3. Meetings: Board meetings are held once a month except for June, July, August and December. There is no Rep Council because we do not represent any specific school district.

4. Other:

In November our county retirees are invited to attend the NJREA Convention in Atlantic City at the Resorts Hotel. This is a two-day event in which members get information on any updates from the NJEA Research Department on Health Benefits and Pensions, and any updates on Legislative matters in the State. Members attend workshops on several topics appropriate to the needs of the retired. Members are also invited to attend the NJEA Convention at the Convention Center.

In December there is a Holiday Social in which all the retired members are invited to attend and enjoy some entertainment performed by a local school music ensemble, and, of course, a nice catered lunch that was held this past year at the 4 Star Catering Restaurant in Wenonah.

In March there is the Laura Maltman Workshop for all our retired members. This workshop presents information on topics of Health and Safety for its retirees. The presenters may be from NJEA or a local community representative in the area of his or her expertise.  Meetings are usually held at the GCEA office.

GCREA has Fall and Spring Business Luncheon meetings, which are open to all retired members. These meetings give specific information on the business items of the GCREA. These meetings are held at a local catering restaurant.

Community Service – Our Public Relations chair organizes donations for a local food  pantry.  We have also collected and donated toys, brand-new clothing, and items of need for the Ronald McDonald House in Camden City.

GCEA and GCREA Organizations maintain an open dialogue of information and ideas through the two Presidents. A GCREA Executive Committee ambassador attends the monthly GCEA Rep Council meetings to exchange information between GCEA and GCREA.

5. Elections: GCREA conducts elections of its officers for a term of two years for a maximum of 3 terms. Newly elected officers serve from a September to August term. Any retired member may nominate either oneself or another retired member.

Committee chairs are appointed by the President. If any retiree member is interested in joining one of the GCREA

committees, he/she may contact the GCREA President who is listed on the GCREA website. You must be a retired

member to join a committee.

6. Constitution, By-laws, and Policy: GCREA is governed by a constitution as required by  NJEA/NJREA regulations.
These are updated on an as-needed basis or as changes are required by GCREA, NJEA, and NJREA.

* GCREA welcomes any active teacher or ESP member to join the NJREA Association. NJREA has Lifetime memberships. If you choose to become a member, you may contact our GCREA Membership chair who is listed on the GCREA website.
