Background
The purpose of this project was to analyze the data for the different courses available on the Gurucool app. The team started by extracting raw data from multiple tables in the database, which included information such as the time spent on a particular course, duration of the course, and course type (technical or non-technical).
After cleaning and organizing the data in Excel, the team was left with over 10,000 rows of information. To make the data more manageable, they condensed the information into almost 500 rows, each containing the course name, duration, time spent, and category. Using categories to group courses by type allowed the team to identify trends and patterns in user behavior.
The team used Flourish, a data visualization tool, to create dynamic charts that could be embedded into a report on their rd2 Google site. The charts helped to present the data in an engaging and easy-to-understand way.
The overall goal of the project was to uncover insights that could be used to improve the app and user experience. By analyzing the data on course types, duration, and time spent, the team hoped to identify areas where users may need more support or resources.
This project was a collaborative effort that involved data analysts, app developers, and user experience designers. By working together, the team was able to uncover valuable insights that could be used to enhance the Gurucool app and improve the learning experience for users.
Findings
Out of the 5,000 courses available on the Gurucool app, only 546 were being tracked in the database.
Of the courses being tracked, 324 had 0 duration information available.
Users spent a total of 1,413 hours watching courses with 0 duration information.
There were 222 courses with non-zero duration information, totaling 1,858 hours of content available to users.
Users spent a total of 755 hours watching courses with non-zero duration information.
The data suggests that users may be finding value in shorter, more focused content, or that longer courses may not be engaging enough to watch in their entirety.
Further analysis is needed to determine if there are any correlations between course duration and user engagement, such as completion rates or repeat views.
The fact that users have only watched 755 hours of the 1,858 hours of available course content suggests that certain courses or types of content may be more engaging than others.
According to the above chart it is clearly evident that users is finding value in shorter, more focused content, or that longer courses may not be engaging enough to watch in their entirety.
And as Padhaai is being famous for its short content as BITS is its one of the most popular feature.
The graph above provides an overview of the distribution of watch time across different courses on the Gurucool app, showing the proportion of courses that are performing well in terms of watch time, and those that are receiving more watch time than the content available for them in their respective courses. This analysis can help identify which courses are most popular or engaging to users, and provide insights into the types of content that are resonating with learners. Additionally, understanding the distribution of watch time can inform decisions about resource allocation and content development on the app.
