Who we are:

The Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) is responsible for facilitating the availability of a pool of skilled talent for both the public service and the broader economy of GCR through empowering the youth of Gauteng. Its work supports the province’s two critical priorities, namely the skills revolution and building a capable, ethical, and developmental state. It derives its strategic direction from the Provincial long-term strategy namely Growing Gauteng Together 2030 (GGT2030).

What we do:

The GCRA helps the youth of Gauteng as they transition from school to the world of work. Its programmes start when the youth are in school up to when they enter the labour market. The programmes include:

  • exposure to the world of work through career guidance and information as well as supporting multi-certification

  • the bursary programme which supports the youth from Gauteng school as they access PSET institutions

  • workforce development which supports the youth as they enter the labour market either for employment or entrepreneurship

  • public sector capacity building
