I. Objectives

LIBRARY OPENING HOURS

Monday to Saturday 9.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.


II. Library Floor

Ground floor

The Ground floor houses circulation section, reprographic (photocopying section), newspaper & periodical section, Librarian’s room, Internet Browsing Corner, technical processing section, general reading area, general stack area and digital library(NLIST Access).


First floor

In the first floor Reference section, News paper archive, Language section(Arabic,Urdu,Sanskrit)and Old books stacks are accommodated.

III. General Rules for Library Use

Ø  All library users are requested to register your visit  in entry register kept at entrance of  Central Library.

Ø  Readers are requested to keep personal belongings (bag, umbrella, own books etc…) in the Lockers available within the library. You are permitted to bring loose writing paper and writing pad inside the Library.

Ø  Library membership cards are NON-TRANSFERABLE

Ø  Sleeping, eating, and TALKING LOUDLY are STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the Library.

Ø  Usage of mobile phones is not permitted inside the Library.

Ø  Documents taken out of the shelves must leave on the table. Replacing the documents on shelves by users is not encouraged as the documents may get misplaced.


 Rules for Borrowing Books

Ø  Book(s) are issued to the students & faculty only for a period of 14 days and can be renewed one time if the book is not in demand.

Ø  All books must be returned on or before the due date and books returned after the due date an overdue charge of Rs. 1.05 per day will be charged.

Ø Absence from college will not be accepted as an excuse for not returning the books in time.

Ø If the due date for return of books falls on weekends or holidays the book must be returned on the next working day.

Ø Books borrowed for use during Onam, Christmas and summer vacations should be returned not later than third day after the reopening of the college.

Ø  Annual Stock Verification- All the books borrowed from the Central Library by students and members of teaching and non-teaching staff must be returned by the first of March every year for the annual physical stock verification of the Library.

Ø A member of staff who takes leave must return all the books borrowed from the Library before proceeding on leave.

Ø For loss of books or damaged book the following procedure will be followed:- as per G.O.1028/A3/93.H.Edn.

(i) If new edition or copies of the lost books are available with the book suppliers, the book has to be replaced by a new one.

(ii) If the lost book is not available for replacement the value of the lost book will be realized at

the following rates:-

(a)Ten times the face value of the books which are published prior to 1946.

(b) Six times face value of the books which are published, prior to 1970.

(c) Three times the face value of the books in all other cases.

(d) If the book value cannot be ascertained from the Library Stock Registers compensation will be fixed on the basis of the market price of similar publication at the time of fixation.

Ø Sub-lending and transferring of books to other person’s name are not allowed.

Ø Books from the reference section shall not be taken outside the library.

Ø  Patrons make sure the conditions of the book they intend to borrow. Damaged and mutilated books will not be accepted and has to be replaced. 

Ø Loss of book by the borrower should be reported to the Circulation Counter immediately to avoid fine and must replace with the latest edition or remit as per govt. norms.

Ø  All members should return the books borrowed by them from the library or after paying dues outstanding against them, if any and obtain a ‘No Dues’ certificate from the Library.

Ø Transfer Certificates will be issued only after clearing all the dues to the library.

Rules for Internet Usage

Ø  Internet facility is available only for the regular members of the College library.

Ø  Users are advised to avail this facility only to support their academic and research activities. The use of any social media with the available service is strictly prohibited.

Ø  Users should not use USB devices/Pen drives for data transfer to avoid virus. Such file / data transfer can be done as e-mail attachments.

Ø  Please keep your Internet ID/Password confidential and logout of your internet account after using net in library or anywhere on campus.
