What is a database?

Databases are collections of information that are organized so that it's easy to find the information you need. They allow you to find factual materials and information in one place. Most databases are available online, through subscriptions. 

This page has the list of databases available for students and staff to use through our school subscriptions.

An online encyclopedia with three levels of reading difficulty, helpful for K-12 research. Britannica has articles on the subjects animals, fine arts, language arts, places, plants and other living things, science and mathematics, social studies, sports and hobbies, world religions, and biographies. Reading levels range from 2nd to 12th grade so it can be used at all levels. The articles have a lot of depth. Britannica includes Imagequest which provides rights to cleared images that students can use in projects, homework etc.

NoveList is an extensive resource that matches readers with books and audiobooks. NoveList Plus and NoveList K-8 both provide full-text reviews, read-alike, and listen-alike recommendations based on the patron's interests. Readers can browse by genre or their mood if they aren't sure where to start. Series information, recommended books, and award-winning book lists are also a great feature of this resource.

A K-5 database designed to assist student reading and research. Pebble Go includes built-in reading and research tools for emerging readers. Leveled text, educational games, and multimedia help teach concepts to all readers. 

A resource with thousands of multimedia materials to enhance reading experiences. It includes great information about books, authors, and how to use the resources.

An online encyclopedia with a variety of subjects to browse and educational games for students. It includes research tips and current events articles that center on student knowledge. It connects straight to Google Classroom and Drive. Students can save articles to their drive for later use. There are great educator tools including Lesson Plans, Graphic Organizers, and Webquests. You can also look at the Indiana Standards by grade level. World Book also includes a citation tool that is easy to use
