Testimonials

Here's what faculty and students in the pilot are saying about Blackboard Ultra.

“One of the challenges I faced when starting at college was navigating six different courses in Blackboard, because each teacher sets things up in different ways. I found myself spending more time trying to locate assignments and tests than I did actually completing some of the work.” – Rebecca Kratky, Student

“There are some things that have come easily in the design process and others where I’ve had to change the way I think and work. For example, sharing files through Microsoft OneDrive wasn’t something I was very skilled at before, but using it in Ultra makes it easy to update and change the content within a file without having to re-upload the file in the Blackboard system. Another example is using learning modules for weekly learning content rather than just a learning folder. The learning modules give a clean and easy way to navigate and view content, which has enhanced the flow of my course. Other parts of the design I’ve enjoyed are being able to be creative by adding colours and pictures easily.” Dr. Stephanie Atthill

Since your last demonstration of BB Ultra, I think the focus on accessibility features for students is beneficial, regardless if it is due to a disability or barrier or just a preference. I believe that options for students to learn the best way for them are essential, and BB Ultra seems to help bridge that gap. Jamie DeCunha,  Adaptive Technologist

“I’ve been developing two Ultra shells over the last few weeks and I’m here to tell you it can be done, and you’ll be supported all the way! But I won’t lie: Ultra is different and there will be a learning curve (much like how all our students feel at the start of the new semester). However, there are plenty of resources available to assist you in the journey, so please don’t worry. Here are my top three tips: 1. Start as soon as possible (don’t procrastinate!); 2. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes; 3. Ask for help. Now that I’ve developed the shells, I can tell you the migration has been worthwhile. Blackboard Ultra is much more mobile friendly and far easier to navigate. The students will love it!” Dr. Avinash Thadani
