Sarah Stockton has been the Vocal Music Director at Grand Blanc High School since 2006 and choir teacher at Grand Blanc West Middle School since 2008. Sarah holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University, studying under David Rayl and Jonathan Reed, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan University. Her mentor, Dr. Nina Nash-Robertson (CMU) passed away in 2018, but has made a lasting impact on her teaching.
Mrs. Stockton is also the Artistic director for the New Century Chorale, an adult community choir in the Grand Blanc area. The New Century Chorale is comprised of 50 voices representing communities throughout Genesee and Northern Oakland counties. Founded in 1993, New Century Chorale is committed to enrich lives, one song at a time. Many GBHS choir graduates go on to sing with NCC after graduation.
In 2018, Sarah was honored to become a choral staff member for the Michigan Ambassadors of Music. She will be traveling to England, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Liechtenstein, and Germany during the summer of 2019. Additionally, Mrs. Stockton was selected as the 2020 6-7-8 SA Honors Choir for the Michigan Schools Vocal Music Association. She is excited to work with so many talented students from around the state of Michigan!
Other musical endeavors include performing frequently as a Soprano soloist and serving as a private voice and piano instructor. Additionally, Sarah is an active member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association, American Choral Directors Association, and the National Association of Music Education.
She resides in Grand Blanc with her husband, Josh and their son Everett. They have two dogs, Kofax and Peanut. In her free time, she enjoys working out and crafting. in the summers, you can find her craft tent at the Grand Blanc Farmer's Market.
