I wanted to bring your attention to a critical bug I discovered while using the WhatsApp mobile application. It seems that sending a specific URL, "wa.me/settings," to another user causes their WhatsApp app to crash when attempting to open the chat. Surprisingly, I am also unable to open the chat, resulting in crashes on both ends. This issue severely impacts user experience, disrupts communication, and undermines the reliability of the app. As a temporary solution, one can log in to WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop, delete the message containing the URL, and then resolve the crashes on both devices. I believe it's essential to raise awareness about this bug and encourage WhatsApp support to address it urgently. Let's hope for a swift resolution to this frustrating issue!

WhatsApp also allows users to set a default time period for disappearing messages. If you enable this feature, all new chats will disappear after the time limit you choose. WhatsApp will display a message in your chats letting others know the default setting you picked. You can also switch back to non-disappearing messages or change the time duration.

On an iPhone or Android phone: Click on the name of the group chat, scroll down and select Disappearing Messages. You may need to hit Continue, too. Then select 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days.

Protecting your account starts with configuring the settings of your Whatsapp account to tighten your privacy and limit risks. This guide addresses backups, the primary risk in Whatsapp, profile visibility and two factor verification

This is by far the most important setting in Whatsapp, if you must do one thing, do this. Because Whatsapp is end to end encrypted, your messages are not stored anywhere by default. This means that if you were to lose or change your device, all messages would be lost. Since this is not desirable for a lot of people, Whatsapp allows users to backup their chat history on the Cloud, either on iCloud for iPhone users or Google drive for Android users. These backups are potentially a threat to your privacy as anyone with access to your Apple or Google account could access it. It might also be possible for law enforcement to access it which is not the case with the conversation on your phone.

Your Whatsapp account might be filled with information about you such as a photo, a status, or an "about" section. If you intend to communicate with people you don't trust, this information might reveal things about you that you'd rather keep private. As a rule a thumb, we suggest always selecting the most private option offered. In most cases, limiting the visibility of these details to "your contacts" should be safe enough, but you might have contact you don't trust in which case it's worth setting the visibility to "nobody" or keeping these things empty (no profile picture, no about or status)

This feature allows you to add a password to access your Whatsapp account when logging in from a new device. This will prevent people with access to your SIM card or phone number from logging into your Whatsapp account and potentially accessing your conversations (see more in the backup section above). When enabling the two-steps verification you will be asked for a 6 PIN digit. Use something that you are not using anywhere else. You will also be asked to provide an email. This step is not mandatory, we suggest you only provide an email address if really necessary.

Whatsapp offers some security features which are good to enable. It's also worth reviewing the permissions given to the app. This guide looks at fingerprint lock, security notifications, Whatsapp web and app permissions.

We understand from your post that you do not have any microphone permissions available in the settings for WhatsApp. In a situation like this you may need to delete and then reinstall the app so that it will prompt you for permission to your camera and microphone again.

Fact that all apps under Microphone settings appear greyed out suggests you have restrictions enabled thus no new app is able to request access to use Mic. Turn off restrictions first then try again to make call in Whatsapp app.

So, in the WhatsUp inbuild Manage Storage, when I check the chat size with my girlfriend it show me 30 MB, but when try to export the single chat (the one with my girlfriend with TONS OF STICKERS :)) the .zip file created by whatsapp was 2 GB.

I suddenly stopped getting notifications on my iPhone 14 Pro. It however does show a red icon that there is a new message or more ... but when I swipe down Whatsapp doesn't appear in the Notification Centre. I did a hard reset and also reset Location & Privacy. All the correct settings are in place ... but still nothing works. The very same thing happened on my previous iPhone 13 Pro. Anybody else experiencing the same issue? All my other apps seem to be working just fine.

2. Check iPhone notification settings: Go to "Settings" > "Notifications" > scroll down and find "WhatsApp." Ensure that "Allow Notifications" is toggled on, and configure the notification settings according to your preferences.

4. Check battery optimization settings: Go to "Settings" > "Battery" and check if your iPhone is in Low Power Mode. If it is, disable it as background app activity may be limited, affecting notifications.

Photos and videos sent to me in Whatsapp are automatically appearing in my Gallery (on Huawei P30) but are not then syncing to Dropbox. Not sure how long this has been happening. I'm sure they used to sync along with my other photos and videos but have only just noticed so now am missing lots of photos from friends and family and have no idea how to find them. As well as setting this up for the future, is there a way to force sync everything that has been sent to me in Whatsapp?

By default, the app has specific privacy settings in place that allow any user to see when you've last used the app (last seen), your profile photo, your "about" information, and read receipts. They also allow contacts to see your status updates, and any users can add you to groups.

I have the same on my s10+ and it's so incredibly annoying. I just don't want vibrating stuff everyone I get a message let alone sounds. If I have my phone on vibrate I want the whatsapp message to be silent and not vibrating but it seems impossible to do so. I tried to set whatsapp to silent in the settings but that goes back to alert once I receive a message. Also when i set that notifications sounds and vibrations to silent it just keeps vibrating. This is super *****ty and only started occurring since the update to the latest Android... How is this possible, how can my Android settings be overridden like this? The only workaround I found was to put the phone on sound with the ring tone super low volume, then the notification settings remain silent and somehow don't vibrate? Its super weird and very annoying and frankly crazy that you can't control it properly

Don't think that Garmin would be able to implement something like this, this is more Whatsapp setting and not GC. GC only sees the app notifications, it can't see the type of notification. Guess the only option here would be to disable the notifications in the group, but on Whatsapp side.

Decide with your child if it is appropriate for them to share their location with others and who they are allowed to share it with. You can disable location permissions by going into your device settings and switching off location services for WhatsApp.

That information - indicating that WhatsApp requires you to give up info about you, your computing behavior, and your computing devices - means that there are some Brave Browser settings that might need to be relaxed.

I tried just that, put out all my contacts and stuff, in this site. They did respond yes, but only with pointless instructions, since I wish not to contract any messaging providers. I had taken a look at it, but they charge a very expensive price beyond the $0.005 whatsapp will charge. Also, the solution I'm creating requires messages to be sent programatically, and the partners don't seem to provide the correct solution.

So to sim up I guess I need help creating the whatsapp business account for my customer. Any advice? Also i'd appreciate any other helpful insight or feedback. I really feel lost and I don't see a place where I can talk to people trying to do the same thing, or doing this is much of a madness after all?

About the subject at hand, westerday I dwelt deep into the rabbit hole. For most companies, you actually are forced to work with a provider, such as twllio or messagebird. They act as intermediary between the facebook business and the whatsapp business api.

Some of they offer messaging separated from whatsapp api setup I still need to take a look into it, but for those who are trying to set up whatsapp business api on their one, it seems as of november 2020 it's not possible.

Note that your WhatsApp information will still be passed to Facebook for other purposes such as improving infrastructure and delivery systems, understanding how [Facebook and WhatsApp] services...are used, securing systems, and fighting spam, abuse, or infringement activities." Changing your settings does ensure, however, that Facebook will not use your WhatsApp data to suggest friends or serve ads.

What remains to be determined is whether the most recent app update reverts personalized settings back to their default. Snopes contacted the messaging platform for further clarification, and will update the article accordingly.

When you turn on the Auto Recharge toggle, a dialog box will appear for you to set the trigger amount and recharge amount. If you need to update your auto recharge settings, click the Edit button next to the toggle to open the configuration dialog.
