Korean Singer-Songwriter
GaYeon Lee is a singer-songwriter based in Seoul, Korea. Her music can be described as K-Indie, featuring indie pop sounds. She is a multilingual artist who speaks six languages, including English, Japanese, and Chinese, allowing her to connect with audiences all over the world. Since 2016, she has performed over 150 times across South Korea as well as in London and Southampton in the UK.
From a young age, she sang songs like 'Part of Your World' and 'Beauty and the Beast' from Disney. Her passion for performing began in primary school by winning prizes in English singing competitions every year. Rather than K-pop, she preferred singing those English songs and musical theatre pieces. Throughout her teenage years, she continued to sing at school festivals and events every year, earning a reputation for her vocal talent during her school years. She began playing the piano at age 5 and started writing her own songs at 15. She was also influenced by Taylor Swift's early albums such as 'Fearless' and 'Speak Now.'
In 2016, she was accepted into a Contemporary Music (Vocal) programme at Baekseok Arts University, securing one of only six spots out of 900 applicants (Acceptance rate 0.67%). That same year, she released her debut original single, 'Rest In Peace'.
In 2017, she started to develop her live performance career, performing over 50 shows in a single year. Her performance career spanned various settings, from indoor venues such as pubs and cinemas, to large scale outdoor festivals. Even during COVID-19, she remained active by participating in online indie music festivals, and she has consistently managed her YouTube channel since 2015. She also went on to release more originals, showing her diverse vocal style.
In 2023, she pursued a master’s degree at the University of Southampton, where she wrote a great number of originals. She released her first mini album in 2025, using her increased emotional sensitivity.
Her vocal tone ranges from clear, crystalline tones to deep, expressive vocals. Tracks like 'Not That Kind' and 'Not a Friend' highlight her bright, lively energy, while 'I Still' and 'As Long as I Breathe' showcase her profound emotional depth.
