The competent teacher differentiates instruction by using a variety of strategies that support critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning. This teacher understands that the classroom is a dynamic environment requiring ongoing modification of instruction to enhance learning for each student.
I used a screen cast of a google slides presentation to address the standard that I chose. I chose this becasue i felt it was the best way to address and teach the standard. In my presentation I addressed telling time with both digital and analog clocks. I started with a rundown of what the hands and lines on the clock mean. I addressed what AM and PM are used for. I started with teaching about analog clocks as it is harder and needs more explanation than digital clocks. I wrapped up my presentation by connecting both of the clocks together. I did this by showing a time on a digital clock and asking the students to draw an analog clock that represents the time.
I chose to teach in the way that I did because I think that screencasts can be a very valuable resource to teachers and students. It allows for lessons to be taught outside of the classroom. This extremely important now more than ever as almost every school has resorted to online courses. This lesson addresses standard five because it it taught in a nontraditional way and allows the students to go back if they dont understand and go at their own pace through a lesson.
