Background Talk:
Ends of hyperbolic 3-manifolds
We will describe the geometric classification of ends of hyperbolic 3-manifolds with finitely generated fundamental group, as well as some pertinent attributes of their deformation theory.
Research Talk:
Iteration in Schottky space
Let H be a handlebody with boundary S. The Ahlfors-Bers parametrization says that the Teichmuller space T(S) parametrizes the convex cocompact hyperbolic structures on int(H). Write this parametrization as X -> Q(X). Given a self-homeomorphism f : S -> S, we describe how the sequence of hyperbolic structures Q(f^n(X)) on int(H) degenerates as n goes to infinity, by analyzing its geometric limits. This is a compressible version of Jeff Brock’s thesis, and is joint work with Cyril Lecuire.
