Motor Carrier Compliance Division

Georgia State Patrol - Motor Carrier Compliance Division

Hello, welcome to the MCCD tab. Here we will explain information about the Motor Carrier Compliance Division and what our task's / job is to do as an MCCD Officer.

The MCCD is a unit within the Georgia Department of Public Safety that focuses on enforcing safety regulations for commercial vehicles like trucks and buses, primarily by conducting inspections and compliance reviews on motor carriers on the roads; essentially, they are responsible for ensuring the safety of large commercial vehicles on the highway.

Focus on Commercial Vehicles:
Unlike regular GSP troopers who enforce traffic laws for all vehicles, MCCD officers specifically target commercial motor vehicles.

Safety Inspections:
Their primary duty is to perform inspections of commercial vehicles to check for compliance with safety standards, including mechanical checks and driver qualifications.

Compliance Reviews:
They also conduct compliance reviews of trucking companies to assess their overall safety practices.

Part of the Georgia Department of Public Safety:
Although they operate on the roads, MCCD officers are considered part of the Georgia Department of Public Safety, alongside the GSP.
