Gather for Good UA brings students together to serve with purpose and unity. Through monthly hands-on service events, we create space for students to show up, roll up their sleeves, and make a real difference in the Tuscaloosa community. As we serve side-by-side, we build friendships, grow in leadership, and strengthen the community around us.
The purpose of Gather for Good UA is to:
Create structured, hands-on service opportunities for students.
Partner with local nonprofits and community organizations in the Tuscaloosa area.
Develop servant leadership and teamwork among members.
Foster unity by bringing students together to serve side-by-side.
Encourage personal growth through meaningful community engagement.
Host at least one organized service event per month during the academic year.
Establish partnerships with at least 2-4 community organizations annually.
Track volunteer participation and service hours each semester.
Provide leadership roles for students in planning and coordinating events.
Promote inclusive participation from students across all majors and classifications.
While the University of Alabama offers various service-oriented organizations, Gather for Good UA provides a structured and recurring model centered specifically on monthly collaborative service initiatives. Rather than focusing on a single cause area, we operate as a consistent service network that adapts to emerging community needs each month.
Additionally, Gather for Good UA emphasizes student-led planning and leadership development in project coordination, creating opportunities for members not only to volunteer but to design and implement service initiatives. Our monthly structure, cross-campus inclusivity, and emphasis on unity through shared service distinguishes us from single-issue or event-based service groups.
