Other Important rules and tips for army building
The maximum army size for a single player is 1500 points. It is much recommended to also be ready to fight battles of 500 and 1000 points.
The army lists can be different, meaning that your 1500 point list does NOT have to include everything the 1000 point list has (+more), but you do have to have a ready army list for all the options you bring.
Note that while you can have different lists for different sizes (meaning your list for 500 pts does not have to be fully part of your larger lists) you have to keep the same Detachment and any enhancements you choose have to remain with the same character.
Eg: I play a Necron army. The detachment of choice for me is Awakaned Dynasty and I have to play this detachment whether I play a 500/1000 or 1500 point battle. In addition I have decided to give my Chronomancer an enhancement - The Veil of Darkness. This enhancement is now locked with the character and can't be used with any other (though the character itself can appear in any number of my lists)
A very special Warlord
We want to make your warlord a bit special, so the following rules will apply for that model in your army only.
Your first warlord gets the keyword Special Character
You will pick a suitable trait for your warlord from a list based on its name. (The list will be available later)
After your choice is made, you will get the rules for the trait.
Note: These traits are not just "cosmetics" but nothing game-breaking either
There is a catch, however. After each battle in which your character was destroyed, you have to roll a d6.
On a 1-2 your character has perished from their wounds and can't be used again.
Tell their name to the organizers who will write in the the Honored Dead list.
You can still use the model in future battles, but the trait you chose at the beginning is lost forever (along with the keyword Special Character). Also, if you are planning to write a story about your "adventure", your warlord probably shouldn't feature much after this point ;)
On a 3-4 your character is either OK if you won or drew the battle or captured by one of your opponents (choose the most likely one) if you lost
If your warlord is captured he remains in the custody of your opponent until they decide to hand the character back. This is an opportunity to make deals, ask for a ransom (SPs are ideal for this) etc.
On a 5+ the character survived and is OK.
